40 Years. 500,000 Lives.

Abortion.  The practice is currently under the spotlight in New Zealand as pro-abortion activists gain ever-increasing traction with media and politicians to liberalise the abortion law.

Surprisingly, as Jacinda Ardern of the NZ Labour Party has voiced her intention to change current abortion law, the ethics of abortion has become an issue to consider when voting in the upcoming general election.  The Greens also have a liberal abortion policy.

Importantly, this year – 2017 – marks an important historic milestone for New Zealand.  It is 40 years since the Contraception, Sterilisation and Abortion Act was passed and the Crimes Act was altered allowing abortion in certain circumstances.

The intention of the legislation passed in 1977 was to protect children in the womb, unfortunately, due to a loop hole in the law, this has not been the case and thousands of unborn children have their lives snuffed out every single year.

Since 1974, when the first abortion facility opened in Auckland, more than 500,000 pre-born children have been aborted because their mothers felt they had no other choice.  Countless women have been wounded physically, emotionally and spiritually.  It would be fair to say that every family has been touched in some way by the tragedy of abortion.

40 years on pro-abortion activists are intent on making abortion even more accessible than it already is.

Just as the fearless founders of the New Zealand pro-life movement took to the streets to be a voice for the unborn, the time is now right at this historic moment, to follow in their footsteps and once again witness to the preciousness of life in the streets of Wellington.

The National March for Life is a hope-filled, family friendly event for all pro-life New Zealanders which aims to:

  • celebrate life;
  • increase public awareness of abortion, its impact on women, families and society while highlighting the alternatives and support available to the abortion-vulnerable;
  • bring all New Zealander’s of good will together, united in the one common vision of making abortion unthinkable.

Mark your calendars now and plan to be in Wellington on Saturday 9th December to be a voice for the voiceless and to let all of New Zealand know that we love them both!
